Service Description

Course Description: This course is designed to prepare rising 10th grade students for the World History and English curriculum typically taught in high schools. Guided by an experienced Lexington High School teacher, the course will introduce students to key historical themes, critical thinking skills, and academic expectations of a high school-level history class. Throughout the course, students will: Explore major global civilizations and historical turning points from ancient to early modern times Learn how to read and analyze primary and secondary sources Practice historical writing, including structured paragraphs and thesis-driven essays Build academic vocabulary related to history and social studies Develop discussion skills and learn how to support arguments with evidence Target Students: Rising 9th grade students who will be entering high schools in Fall 2025. Course Goals: By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in historical thinking and be well prepared for the challenges of high school World History and English classes.
