Service Description

In this class, we will complete a number of exercises designed to satisfy the college essay topics you find on the Common Application. Students will focus on elements of a powerful narrative, and hone their statements into unique, polished, and compelling personal essays. Most college applicants approach the essay portion of the application with a “one and done” perspective, which can lead to lower essay quality. By the end of this class, students should have multiple essays to choose from as they begin their college application process, which ensures the highest caliber of essays along with choice and flexibility as they assemble their application materials. Because some students will have supplemental essay prompts for certain schools, having a number of powerful essays available is especially useful. The online class format gives students the ability to see one another’s work more easily through the sharing function on Zoom. This leads to more student-to-student learning and enhances the workshop experience that is so critical for generating ideas and taking our essay writing to the next level. A virtual classroom also allows more one-on-one feedback from the instructor, including feedback in “real-time”, so that students are supported throughout the drafting process. A missed class can be revisited through online recordings, and lessons can be viewed more for review of key concepts.
