This course is aimed at helping students build a solid foundation in key calculus concepts before the school year begins, giving them a head start and preparing them for the challenges of the AP exam. Course Content: Unit 1: Limits and Continuity Students will explore the concept of limits, how to compute limits, and the idea of continuity in functions. Understanding these foundational concepts is crucial for grasping more advanced topics in calculus. Unit 2: Derivatives This unit will cover the definition and calculation of derivatives, the rules of differentiation (product, quotient, and chain rule), and applications of derivatives, including motion, optimization, and related rates. Unit 3: Integrals Students will learn about the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, definite and indefinite integrals, and methods of integration (substitution, integration by parts). The unit will also explore applications of integrals, such as area under curves and volume calculations. Unit 4: Series and Sequences This unit covers the concept of sequences and series, including convergence tests, power series, Taylor series, and Maclaurin series. Understanding series is key to mastering advanced calculus topics. Unit 5: Differential Equations and Applications Students will delve into solving basic differential equations and applying them to real-world problems. This includes separation of variables and understanding how differential equations model change in various contexts. Course Highlights: In-Depth Coverage: With 15 sessions, this course provides comprehensive coverage of key AP Calculus BC topics, giving students a deep understanding of essential concepts. Ahead of the Curve: Students will be well-prepared before the school year begins, gaining a strong foundation in calculus and giving them an advantage as they approach the exam.
